Having taken my seat practically in the lap of a giant pharoah, after walking my pizza-piled plate past a bare-chested Sphinx, I pondered that this really must be the wildest Pizza Hut in the north, if not the whole of the UK.

I was dining at the slightly inexplicably Egyptian-themed Pizza Hut at the Trafford Centre , in a week when terrible news has been announced that almost half of the current UK restaurants will close amid a downturn in fortunes for the global pizza chain.

Hearing that news made me sad for all those staff affected, as well as nostalgic for the past, and determined to go and enjoy one of the brand's iconic all-you-can eat pizza buffets once again.

And what better place to get nostalgic than in the lap of Egyptian gods, hey?
