Pakistan and Afghanistan are back at the table this weekend, this time in Istanbul, to turn a fragile truce into something more durable. The talks, jointly facilitated by Turkey and Qatar, aim to build a verifiable system to curb terrorist attacks launched from Afghan soil and prevent another slide into conflict.
According to a PTI report, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi confirmed that the meeting, scheduled for October 25, would proceed as planned. “Pakistan looks forward to the establishment of a concrete and verifiable monitoring mechanism to address the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghan soil and prevent further loss of life of Pakistanis,” he said on Friday.
