Bo Bichette isn’t the only new face added to the Blue Jays roster for the World Series. Ty France has been activated as well.
The first baseman was placed on the injured list on Sept. 23 with an oblique injury and while he had recovered enough to have played against Seattle in the American League championship series, the Mariners didn’t have enough left-handed pitching to warrant him being on the roster.
France, nominated for a Gold Glove at first base, will be used almost exclusively as a bat off the bench. He came over with reliever Louis Varland in a trade deadline deal with Minnesota and started his Jays career with a bang, hitting .338 over his first 26 games. But he went just 2-for-23 the rest of the way.
