Shopian, Oct 25: A five-year-old girl died after she accidentally fell into a water channel in Narwar village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.
Officials said the victim has been identified as Nazima, daughter of Rayaz Ahmad Khatana, a native of Kalakot who was presently residing in Narwar, Shopian. Preliminary reports suggest that the girl accidentally slipped into a nearby nallah while playing close to her home.
Soon after the incident, locals and family members launched a rescue operation and managed to pull her out of the water channel. She was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Shopian, where doctors declared her brought dead.
