A small but classy field of eight horses will jump from the famous 2040-metre start at Melbourne’s Moonee Valley Racecourse at 5:40pm AEDT to run for a purse of $5 million.

It’ll be the 105th running of the great weight-for-age race and a historic one at that as Moonee Valley is set to undergo a massive $220 million facelift to reconfigure the track.

Next year, the race will be run at Flemington but is set to return to the revitalised track in 2027.

However, before all of that happens, there’s a race to be run and won this year.
