Drug-addicted parents held for selling infant for Rs 1.8 lakh, 4 booked in trafficking case

Mansa (Punjab), October 25, 2025: In a shocking incident, the Mansa Police have registered a case of child trafficking against four individuals, including the parents who allegedly sold their own child for ₹1.8 lakh to sustain their drug addiction.
According to police officials, both the husband and wife—reported to be addicted to chitta (synthetic drugs)—sold their baby for ₹1.8 lakh. The buyers, who allegedly paid the amount to the couple, have also been booked under relevant sections of the law.
So far, three persons, including the parents, have been arrested, while one accused remains absconding. Police have launched a probe to trace and recover the child safely.
