The second round of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season got off to a wild start when two hat-tricks were recorded in the same innings within the first two sessions of play on Day 1 in the Assam-Services contest.

Hosting its first Ranji Trophy game in 24 years, the Tinsukia District Sports Association Ground witnessed a jittery start for the home team Assam when they were reduced to 45 for five in a flash. Captain Riyan Parag was the first victim of Services left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma before he proceeded to take out wicket-keeper Sumit Ghadigaonkar and Sibsankar Roy and record the first Ranji Trophy hat-trick of the season.
