A Pennsylvania teenager is being praised as a hero after saving an elderly woman from a fire

Xaiveyon McMillan Taylor, 15, got off his school bus and leaped into action when he heard his neighbor screaming for help

"I'm very proud of what he's done," Xaiveyon's mother, Tallula Thompson, said

A Pennsylvania teen is being hailed as a hometown hero after leaping into action when his elderly neighbor's home caught on fire.

Xaiveyon McMillan Taylor had just gotten off his school bus in his North Braddock, Pa., neighborhood when he heard screams coming from nearby, his mother, Tallula Thompson, told KDKA .

The woman, known as “everybody's family” and “everybody's grandmother,” is in her 80s and goes by "Ms. Evelyn," Thompson said.

She also added that Xaiveyon is autistic.
