There is a woefully misinformed perception that the Democratic Party is a single thing, when the party includes a wide swath of the American “far left” as well as moderates and everything in between.

But unlike Republicans, the party imposes no ideological purity tests, and definitely no expected acts of fealty to a fearless leader. It’s impossible: There is no Democratic politician that meets an ideal. There is no one the party is coalescing around to champion as its face or future.

There are more unpopular politicians than not, including the ones who are especially, and vulnerably, in disfavor — and that includes our very own Senator John Fetterman.

He’s going the distance

For the record, I like John Fetterman. I voted for him, and fully supported his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. H
