Our region is gearing up for a busy weekend with the Sea and Sky Air Show taking to the skies over Jacksonville Beach. But along with the excitement, beachgoers and boaters should be aware that marine and beach hazards are not to be ignored.

All area beaches will have a high risk of dangerous rip currents, thanks to building rough surf and blustery onshore winds gusting up to 40 mph. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect through at least Monday, so if you’re heading out on the water, be extra cautious.

Winds from the east to northeast will keep things breezy across the region, with gusts near the coast and around the St. Johns River basin could reach 30-40 mph this afternoon and evening. These gusts might even come close to triggering a Wind Advisory from the National Weather Service.
