Xavier Bartlett had a moment that every fast bowler dreams of in Adelaide this week — knocking over one of the best to do it in Virat Kohli.

That’s the sort of wicket you remember forever. What disappointed me though — and sadly, it didn’t surprise me — was the reaction from some so-called fans online.

And this isn’t just pointing out Indian fans, this is for all fans that behave that way. The abuse Bartlett copped after getting Kohli out was disgusting.

It’s one thing to be passionate about your team or your hero, but it’s another to personally attack a young player for doing his job. He bowled a good ball and got his man. That’s cricket. You win some, you lose some.

But there’s no excuse for the kind of behaviour that followed. It’s not what true fans of the game stand for.
