There was a brief time when Toronto Blue Jays fans thought the franchise had a shot at signing Shohei Ohtani -- remember when there were reports during 2023 free agency that he was on a plane to Toronto? That is, until he wasn't. But that made for some good jokes ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers World Series against the Jays.

When Ohtani stepped up to the plate in the ninth inning of the Blue Jays' blowout Game 1 win -- in which the superstar slugger hit a two-run blast earlier in the contest -- Blue Jays fans chanted "We don't need you!"

We'll see if that's actually true if the Jays end up winning the series. At least that was true in Game 1.
