Star batter Travis Head, on Saturday, October 25, became the fastest Australian to go past the 3000-run mark in ODIs, breaking ace batter Steve Smith’s record. Head scored a 25-ball 29 in the third ODI against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground and was in great touch during his small stay, smacking six fours.
The Aussies made a good start through captain Mitchell Marsh (41) and Head as they added 61 runs for the opening wicket.
But once Head departed after steering Mohammad Siraj to Prasidh Krishna at point, Australia struggled for stands.
But before departing, Head ensured that he went past an important milestone. In the seventh over, which was being bowled by Prasidh Krishna, he scored his 3000th ODI run, in his 76th innings, three fewer than Smith.
