This weekend, the Beltrami County Historical Society is hosting its annual History Mystery, a family event modeled after the board game CLUE, but featuring people from Beltrami County History as “suspects” in a fictitious crime.
I’ve been involved with the event since its inception by former History Center director Dan Karalus in 2014, and it was, for its first 11 years, held as a New Year’s Eve event.
Its purpose was to present a little regional history in a fun way.
This year, History Mystery moved to a pre-Halloween slot, more in keeping with the solving-of-a-crime/murder mystery theme. It has evolved over the past 11 years and has become more specific to area history and more scripted.
