NEW CANAAN, Conn. (WTNH) — A man was charged with murder Friday after telling police he killed his mother in New Canaan, according to police.
At approximately 10:36 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of South Avenue and Gerdes Road for a report of a man yelling in the woods. While officers were responding, dispatch received a call from a man at a home on Gerdes Road stating that he killed his mother.
Sebastian Van Stockum, 20, was arrested after probable cause was established, police said.
Arriving police and EMS performed life-saving measures on the victim, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Van Stockum was charged with murder and held on $2 million bond.
Connecticut State Police and Western District Major Crimes are assisting in the investigation.
