One hundred forty two years ago, nearly to the day, maybe the most famous murder in Batavia’s history was committed.

It was quite a scandalous case, which garnered much outside press. It involved many of the attributes that modern crime procedural shows would relish in: a wealthy executive, a young beautiful wife, and an affair that stretched across New York State.
