Avon Lake – Knock, knock. Who’s there? Well, in Avon Lake, if folks are knocking, residents have the right to be blocking.
It’s called the “No Knock Rule,” and Avon Lake Police Chief Caleb Robinson said the city regularly receives complaints from residents about folks soliciting their wares throughout the city. And while it’s not an overwhelming amount of calls to police, Chief Robinson wants to remind homeowners and solicitors alike that there’s a proper procedure for going door to door in Avon Lake.
Chief Robinson explained that it appears from several of the complaints that the solicitors don’t realize they must register with the city before canvassing, despite checking a box agreeing not to violate the No Knock Rule. Then, there are others that fail to register with the city at all,
