DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) - Police are investigating a deadly crash that has I-12 West in Livingston Parish shut down.

According to the Denham Springs Police Department, the crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 25. Authorities responded to the scene on I-12 West near mile marker 8.

A single vehicle experienced a blowout, causing it to flip over, police said. They added that the driver was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was taken to a hospital.

The name of the driver was not released.

Officials said that because of the crash, I-12 West past Range is currently closed. Congestion is approaching Juban. Drivers are urged to use an alternate route.
