With an 11-4 lead and Game 1 of the World Series down to its final out for the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto fans had a chorus for superstar Shohei Ohtani, a lusty refrain the built in intensity and volume with each repetition.

“We don’t need you,” they serenaded as Ohtani, the two-way phenom who spurned the Jays for the Dodgers some 22 months ago was at the plate in the bottom of the ninth.

And what great delight the sold out crowd took in that moment, as they moved within three wins of their first World Series title in 32 years.
