PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Peoria firefighters put out a house fire that appeared to be intentionally set.
At 7:13 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, crews went to the 1000 block of East Behrends Avenue for a report of a structure fire at a single-story vacant home, Battalion Chief Mike Ralston said.
Arriving crews saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. Firefighters used multiple hose lines to attack the fire, as well as cut a ventilation hole in the roof to release heat and smoke.
The fire was brought under control after an aggressive attack from the inside of the home.
Ralston said the building was confirmed to be unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
An investigation shows that the fire was intentionally set. The incident is being investigated as a possible
