Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet has given its approval for a major project to procure, operate, and maintain 200 midi electric buses on a Gross Cost Contract basis. The project, worth Rs 9,152.56 crore, will be implemented over the next 10 years.

The electric buses will be deployed in six major cities in the state, including Keonjhar, Baripada, Berhampur, Angul, Jharsuguda, and Sambalpur. The project aims to improve urban development and city transport services, while also reducing urban pollution and carbon emissions.

The initiative is part of the state’s vision to build a fully developed state by 2047 and aligns with the goals of “Vikshit Odisha,” “Vikshit Bharat,” and “Atma Nirbhar Bharat.” The project will provide safe, efficient, and eco-friendly bus transport to lakhs of commuters
