WINTERSVILLE, Ohio — Fire crews from across Jefferson County responded late Thursday night after a home on Reichart Avenue caught fire.
Officials said the blaze started around 10:35 p.m. when a family returned home and smelled smoke. After opening the back door, they found flames inside. Firefighters believe the fire had been burning for some time before anyone discovered it.
Investigators said the fire appears to have started in the floor and is likely electrical in nature. It spread through several rooms, but the home is not considered a total loss.
Departments from Wintersville, Richmond, Steubenville, Belvedere and Hillandale all responded to help contain the fire. No injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
