PORTSMOUTH, N.H. —

Nearly 400 students from more than a dozen schools in New Hampshire attended the Portsmouth Health Career Expo to explore careers in the healthcare industry and learn about high-tech medical equipment.

Representatives from 24 clinical and administrative departments were showcased in hopes of sparking the next generation of healthcare workers.

"We know that there is a shortage across the country in terms of careers and opportunities in the health care industry. If we can start exposing students at a younger age to what it's going to be like in this industry, they're going to be more interested," said Sean Patterson, CEO of Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
