Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the first phase of the Sharda Corridor Project, a ₹185 crore initiative aimed at transforming the Tanakpur region of Champawat district into a centre of spiritual, cultural, and economic growth.

Speaking at a ceremony at Sharda Ghat in Tanakpur on October 24, Dhami described the project as "the centre of our faith, cultural heritage, and sustainable development." He said its purpose was to develop the valley from Banbasa to Mata Rankochi as a confluence of religion, nature, and livelihood.

"This land will no longer be just a centre of faith but will usher in a new wave of economic prosperity and opportunities in the lives of the people here,” the Chief Minister said, according to PTI.
