Agartala, Oct 25 (UNI) A South Tripura court today granted bail to seven individuals accused of assaulting a police officer in public last night in Belonia.

The altercation occurred the night before when the officer intervened to halt the excessive noise from a sound system during a procession for the immersion of a Kali idol in Belonia.

The police detained the suspects on various charges, including obstructing a government servant, inflicting serious injury on an on-duty officer, and rioting. However, after a thorough hearing, the court decided to release them on bail.
