If the New York Jets are going to make a change at quarterback, it won’t come in Week 8.

Justin Fields will start under centre on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals as backup Tyrod Taylor has been ruled out with a knee injury, Brian Costello of the New York Post reported on Saturday.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn had refused to commit to a starter throughout the week despite growing calls to move off-season free-agent addition Fields to the bench.

Fields was replaced by Taylor during the second half of the team’s Week 7 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

New York is 0-7 on the season, the last winless team remaining.

On Tuesday, owner Woody Johnson blamed the poor start on his team’s quarterback play.
