Leh, Oct 25: The Sonam Norboo Memorial (SNM) Hospital, Leh, Saturday launched the Union Territory’s first Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab)—a state-of-the-art facility that brings advanced cardiac procedures to the region’s doorstep.
Set up at a cost of Rs 6 crore under the National Health Mission (NHM), the facility marks a historic leap for the high-altitude UT where heart patients had to travel to Srinagar, Chandigarh or Delhi for life-saving interventions. The new chapter in Ladakh’s medical history began with a 45-year-old patient suffering from Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)—the first to undergo an angiography at the facility.
