Emergency crews were at the Vedder River Saturday morning for a possible drowning.

The incident happened sometime before 9 a.m. on Oct. 25 near Vedder River Campground and the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.

BC Ambulance Service, the Chilliwack Fire Department, Chilliwack Search and Rescue, and RCMP were all on scene.

By 10 a.m. it was reported that crews had “retrieved the patient” and were taking him to the heron reserve.

About half an hour later, emergency responders stated the man was not yet ashore and that Chilliwack Search and Rescue was asked to return to the scene to help.

The Chilliwack Progress has reached out to RCMP. Check back for more information as it becomes available.
