GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — A man suspected of killing his wife, an Alvarado High School teacher, was arrested in southeastern Texas over the weekend after an overnight search, officials say.

Alvarado police say Chelsea Spillers, 33, was found dead at her home around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18. Investigators said Spillers' cause of death is believed to be blunt force trauma.

Following an investigation, police said they obtained an arrest warrant for Spillers' husband, Brandon Ashley. He was later arrested by Grimes County Sheriff's Deputies and is awaiting extradition to Johnson County.

Alvarado ISD, in a statement, remembered Spillers as "a dedicated educator."
