MT. PLEASANT— One person was rescued from a house fire in Mt. Pleasant Saturday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to a home on North Henry Street around noon after flames were reported at the back of the house.
Two Mt. Pleasant Police officers pulled the victim from the home just as firefighters arrived — that person was treated for smoke inhalation and taken to the hospital.
Officials said the fire started in the kitchen after cooking got out of control.
The resident, whose name was not released is now staying with family members do to what officers called “significant damage.
Investigators are reminding everyone to check their smoke detectors regularly.
