Florida baseball suffered a significant injury during its intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 25.

Jacksonville transfer outfielder Jaden Bastian suffered a severed right leg injury after tripping over first base and landing awkwardly on the ground, as first reported by Hunter DeLauder.

A UF spokesperson confirmed to The Gainesville Sun that the injury appears to be a compound fracture to his right leg and will require surgery. Bastian was loaded onto a stretcher and transported on an ambulance out of Condron Family Ballpark.

Bastian, a junior, had a .302 batting average and 11 home runs at Jacksonville last season. The outfielder also led the ASUN with 36 stolen bases.

UF canceled the remainder of its practice, but the Gators are expected to return to the diamond on Sunday, Oct. 26
