MARTINSVILLE -- Just like the boys team earlier in the day, the Carmel girls soccer team punched its ticket to the IHSAA State Finals with a 5-2 win over the Center Grove Trojans on Saturday at Martinsville High School.

“It’s a special feeling,” Carmel coach John Simmonds said. “I had this happen to me at Park Tudor where the boys and girls advance at the same time. It’s a special feeling for the school, for your peers amongst the staff and it’s nice to know that both programs had such a great season. Carmel should be proud.”
