Halloween is eerily close, and with it being the last weekend before the big day, many people are rushing to put costumes together, either buying or going the DIY route.

According to the National Retail Federation, discount stores remain the top destination to buy Halloween items, seeing a 5% increase in shopping from last year.

With Halloween creeping up, we spoke with those who are still preparing their last-minute costumes. Samantha Frederick, a shopper, put together a thrifted ghost poncho with white shorts.

Frederick said, "I found some stuff, I'm not really sure. I found this to maybe put together and do a ghost or something, but I'm not really sure yet."

Traditionally, Halloween was a celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when people would make jack-o'-lantern
