Thus, the recent viral video of the treatment of a bloodied and terrified dog named “Kava” at Clayton County Animal Control — who was executed less than two weeks from intake — highlights why public officials must end their police department’s oversight of this animal pound.

I have worked in animal rescue with dogs like Kava. I’ve learned that you can’t teach people to have empathy. You either have the gift to connect and care —or you don’t.
