The threat of a nor’easter hitting New Jersey with strong winds and rain next week is increasing, though forecasters say the storm’s track and details remain uncertain.

“A dynamic setup is forecast for the mid to late week time frame,” the National Weather Service said in an update Saturday afternoon. “There does however appear to be an increasing risk of a storm impacting our region during this timeframe.”

A weak low pressure system will pass south and east of New Jersey from Tuesday into Wednesday, potentially bringing light showers or drizzle to coastal areas before spreading inland.

Winds will begin to increase from the northeast, particularly along the coast, according to the weather service forecast.
