COLLEGEVILLE — The Carleton football team hadn't had a start to a season like this since 1992.
The Knights, who came into a Saturday, Oct. 25, MIAC game at St. John's with a 5-0 mark in the MIAC and 5-1 overall record, got a big reality check in a 49-10 loss to the No. 11 Johnnies at Clemens Stadium.
Carleton also started its 1992 season with a 5-0 conference mark. But this one was never in doubt.
The Johnnies (5-1 MIAC, 6-1 overall) piled up 564 yards of total offense to the Knights' 187 and quarterback Trey Feeney went 33-of-41 passing for 409 yards with six touchdowns in the rout.
With Carleton only implementing a three-man defensive front, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Feeney felt like he had all day to throw the ball.
