The Arizona State football team has won its last 11 Big 12 games with Sam Leavitt at quarterback.
But the redshirt sophomore left the game against Houston at Mountain America Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 25, with 8:44 left in the first quarter after gaining 14 yards on a keeper that got the ball down to the 42. He was tackled and hit the ground hard, where he stayed for a short time before walking off.
Jeff Sims came in for him and ran for 12 yards, giving ASU a first down.
Leavitt was in the sideline medical tent for several minutes, but emerged without his helmet and was taken to the locker room.
He later was seen throwing on the sideline late in the first quarter as Houston was up 10-0, and returned to the game with 36 seconds left in the first quarter. Need a news break? Check out
