BOISE, Idaho — High pressure will dominate through the weekend, keeping conditions, locally, dry and unusually warm for mid-December. Thursday afternoon had record warmth for the second day in a row in several cities across southwest Idaho.
On Friday, valley highs are expected to reach the low to mid-50s before a very slight temperature cool-down to the low 50s on Saturday in the valleys. Mountain highs will fall into the lower 40s.
Clear skies and light winds will continue to trap cooler, stagnant air in the valleys. An Air Stagnation Advisory is effective through Monday at 5 a.m. The Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, and a large portion of eastern Oregon are included in this advisory. An extended period of stagnant air could lead to poor air quality, which could impact sensitive groups.
