Forecasters say snow and freezing rain are possible on Hawaii island summits, which are under a National Weather Service winter weather advisory until 6 a.m. Sunday.
Snow may accumulate from 3 to 5 inches and ice accumulation of up to a tenth of an inch is possible, making travel difficult, the weather service said.
An upper level low will move over the Big Island tonight, forecasters said, bringing periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain to Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa.
“Blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility at times, with periods of zero visibility,” the advisory said.
Motorists are advised to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility, and are urged to use caution while driving.
