KIHEI, Hawaii (Island News) -- A 79-year-old man died after a collision with a truck in Kihei on Wednesday morning where he was ejected from his e-bike.

The fatal collision took place at 7:22 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the intersection of Kanani Road and Auhana Road. A white 2024 Ford F-150 that was traveling east on Kanani Road when it collided with an e-bike rider. The Ford was making a left turn towards the highway and the e-bike was traveling west on Auhana Road at the intersection.

The bicyclist, who was identified as 79-year-old Richard Holland, was ejected from his vehicle and suffered life life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24.
