50,000 Veolia customers under Boil Water alert

A break in a large transmission main Saturday led to low water pressure for thousands of Veolia customers and a Boil Water Advisory.

The directive affects about 50,000 customers in areas including Newark, Christiana, Brookside, Bear and New Castle. Veolia said it issued the advisory out of an abundance of caution.

The advisory follows and was current Saturday night:

RESIDENTS IN THE AFFECTED AREA SHOULD:

• Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, making ice, brushing teeth, or washing dishes

• Please boil water until further notice
