ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A fire destroyed several floors of an apartment building in southwest Atlanta overnight.
Residents said they first saw flames at around 9 p.m. on Friday at Southwood Vista apartment complex near Campbellton Road. Nobody was injured in the blaze, according to firefighters.
“It’s very scary,” one man said. “Thank God. He’s watching over us.”
Neighbors said they were calling each other and knocking on doors to let people know to get out.
“When the fire started, no sprinklers, no fire alarm. We didn’t have anything,” a woman said.
“If my neighbors would not have done all they done to notify me, I would not have known this was going on myself,” another added.
