POTSDAM, N.Y. — Jared Mangan collected the puck in the left circle and looked at a wide-open net.
The Clarkson winger fired a shot, and Cheel Arena's train whistle, which serves as the goal horn, blew for a few seconds.
But the puck wasn't in.
UND freshman goaltender Jan Špunar made an incredible pad save to keep it out, and the train whistle never sounded again.
Špunar posted a 17-save shutout in his college debut to lead UND to a 1-0 win over Clarkson in the series finale.
Špunar became the first UND goalie to complete a shutout in his college debut since Aaron Dell in October 2009.
