HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- New Hope Animal Rescue in Henderson gets some extra help after a busy night.
We're told the shelter unexpectedly took in six dogs. One of them named Josephine was found injured and hasn't yet received the medical care she needs.
Staff say she's currently unable to walk properly and needs surgery. To help, Independence Bank donated more than $3,000 to the non-profit. The funds come from Henderson's seventh annual chili cook-off.
Shelter officials say Josephine's surgery will happen as soon as possible.
