The champions at the Class 3A District 4 boys tennis tournament reached their titles through different paths.
There were the pair of seniors in the doubles bracket who had dreamed for years of being district champions.
And there was the freshman, a rising talent in the area, in the singles bracket, from whom that was new.
But they all had one thing in common. They were Mountain View Thunder.
Mountain View freshman Victor Simal won the singles title with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the final over Prairie senior Micah Nelson, dethroning the reigning 3A district singles champion.
In doubles, the crown went to Mountain View seniors Caleb Sears and Austin Wick, who outlasted teammates Jackson Taylor and Owen Kendrick 6-7 (9), 7-5, 6-0.
Taylor and Kendrick were also defending district champions.
