The other contenders are former Pirates manager Derek Shelton, Cubs bench coach Ryan Flaherty, and former Mariners manager Scott Servais. Hayes and Ghiroli speculate that Shelton and Rowson, who served as the Twins’ hitting coach and bench coach, respectively, under skippers Paul Molitor and Rocco Baldelli, may have the inside track due to their history with the organization. Rowson has been with the Yankees for the past two years, working with MLB’s top offense this season.
