BOISE, Idaho — Under a steady downpour Saturday afternoon, dozens gathered at the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial in Boise to demand compassion, accountability and action following a recent immigration raid in Wilder that left families separated and a community reeling.
Ashanna Valle, who joined the crowd despite the rain, said she felt compelled to speak out.
“We have to stand up. We have to be here. We have to keep saying this is not right,” Valle said.
The rally came less than a week after federal agents detained 105 undocumented individuals in Wilder, according to community organizers. The raid, witnesses said, created panic and confusion as families were separated and many struggled to locate detained relatives.
