As a player, Jack O’Shea was totally indifferent to match-day nerves. But he felt terror in Fitzgerald Stadium in December 2008 as he watched his son, Aidan, step forward to take a penalty in the Kerry county senior final replay.
Mid Kerry were two points down to Kerins O’Rahillys when awarded a kick to win the championship after Ian Twiss was fouled in second-half injury-time. O’Shea, the Mid Kerry full-back, volunteered for a duty requiring strength of mind as much as flair or technique.
