The arrested cadre has been identified as self styled Corporal Thawseng Asom, a resident of Makum Bariakoli village in Tinsukia district of Assam.

Security forces involved in counter insurgency operations in eastern Arunachal Pradesh, have dealt a major blow to banned militant outfit ULFA-I and achieved a big breakthrough by arresting one of its hardcore cadres from Namsai.

The arrested cadre has been identified as self styled Corporal Thawseng Asom, a resident of Makum Bariakoli village in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and Namsai Police.

Sangey Thinley, Superintendent of Police of Namsai while confirming the arrest said that a huge quantity of highly sophisticated arms and ammunition has been recovered by the security forces
