The fast-growing Surf Bagel chain is opening a new store in Churchmans Place shopping near Christiana Hospital, marking the seventh location for the Delaware-based chain.
The Stanton-area store at 1103 Churchmans Road is taking over the site of the former Fuego Peri Peri Grill, which closed this past April after operating for three years. Previously, the building housed Viva Chicken, which opened in 2018, but closed permanently shortly after the pandemic began in 2020.
Matt Patton, president of Surf Bagel, said the site is being fully renovated and fitted out. He expects the store to open in spring 2026.
Patton said the company was attracted to the Stanton-area location because "it's really like a hub of Delaware. It seems like it's 15 minutes from everything." He noted the proximit
